The Holiday season is underway!!

Well the stocking are hung by the fireplace and the lights are twinkling outside, we have our tree and it is beautiful. Living in Texas you never know if you are going to get any cold weather go along with all of these wonder Christmas goodies. Growing up in Ohio I associate Christmas with sweaters and jackets, snowmen, icicles! Well it has actually been in the 30's & 40's this week so that is nice. We were invited to a few Holiday parties this year haven't made to ant just yet. Still waiting on surgery. I have a great question for the few people that read my blog, can you give me any good ideas for a white elephant gift? I have never been to a white elephant party and well it seems pretty interesting. The limit is $20.00
Getting ready to have a birthday party for my daughter which is super exciting!!! Cookie Monster Themed :) See will be 15. I'm so excited for them to be out of school for the Christmas holiday after that, so we can make cookies together. This will be the first year I really get to do it with out rushing around and worrying about work. I miss my work a lot. Well more to come in the future. Hope to see some White Elephant ideas :) Help

Good Morning!

Well hello fellow Bloggers, family and friends! Sorry it has taken me so long to write a new blog post, but I have had a few thing going on in the last few weeks. Are you ready for the Holidays? We all LOVE the holidays at our house! I just wanted to share a few things about my day. I enjoy watching the TODAY SHOW. There are always great deals" Jill's Steals and Deals", Great recipes Sandra Lee is on today with some great cocktails.  I love to Watch the Nate Berkus Show also. He always gives me great ideas that would love to do around my house, as well as get ideas for gifts. Since I have been off work now for over 3 months my partner gave me a great idea, maybe I should go back to school! It is something I have been thinking about for a really long time and since i;m not working and and cannot walk very well online classes just might be my thing. I have always been really interested in the healthcare as well as management so maybe I can put the two together some how.
I am still trying to work on the Extreme couponing thing. Not going so well. I have a binder and I cut out several coupons each week,  but it seems i'm not stock pilling anything nor am I saving huge numbers each week. We usually save around $40.00 each grocery trip. I need to read up a little bit more and get some more tips I guess.
I would like to leave you with a few things. First if you could please send some prayers in the way of my friend Tracy, she just found out that she has cancer and she will be having surgery the day before Thanksgiving. Here is a picture of her 3 children.

We Love you Tracy and Pray for you every day!

Halloween Treats

I wanted to share a few sites where I found some interesting treats.
I receive emails from Southern Living Magazine, they send great ideas for decorating as well as some great meal ideas. Today this was in my email and I just had to share. Now I would never make this even though I LOVE candy corn but deep fried... too much

A favorite recipe that I have made for work the last 2 years and will be making for a Halloween party this year, since i'm not working right now Is Buried Surprise Cupcakes! This recipe has made so many people laugh and even scare small children. The key is to Icing the top like a regular cup cake so no one knows whats going on underneath.... Here is a link to a website where you can use there recipe or get creative and make your own!!

I had a hard time finding Gummi Body parts this year. searched everywhere. Then low an behold we saw them at CVS! so if you can't find them check your local pharmacy. LOL

I really love these Monster Cupcakes too! I made these last year they do take a little more work, but they are really good and super cute who can go wrong with Sandra Lee right?

On our way....

Well we purchased our spider web today, hopefully the wind will stay down this year so it doesn't blow all over the place. I'm not to worried about the rain, since living in Texas this year we really have had zero rain.  I decided to go the cheapest route possible in making our wreath. We have some pieces of wood from them building a house next door and we are going to cut it up and paint it black and i'm going to use things that I have around the house and just see how creative I can get. Not feeling to well today after my surgery the other day, trying to rest, We did make it to Houston Garden Center to get a few Pumpkins and some Mums for the front porch. Just so you know anyone from Houston reading this all of the pumpkins are Buy 1 get 1 free and the mums are 2.99 for the small ones. I will post pictures hopefully tomorrow if i'm feeling better. Hope everyone has a good day.

Getting ready for Halloween!

Are you getting ready for Halloween? I know we sure are :) We have started by decorating the inside of course and then we work our way outside. We always like to go to Spirit Halloween every year and with the coupons they send you when you sign up for there mailing list it makes shopping there much nicer!! We got some webbing  and a few ideas. We made our scary man for the front porch out of an old mask and some old clothes as well as a Trash bag Spider. Now i'm not a fan of Spiders but this one is cute in a scary sort of way.
This is a picture of our scary man. He has scared many. Our dead plants beside him really help him out too...

Here is our Trash bag spider. really easy to make and can be a large as you like. We purchased the large size black trash bags just imagine how big he could be with the lawn and leaf bags!!  Living here in Texas we don't have very many leaves to rake up and make him so we used recycled newspaper.

  • 18 large black trash bags
  • Leaves or newspaper
  • Black electrical tape
  • Large red plastic party cups
  • Clothesline, optional
Instructions
  1. To create the spider's body, stuff one trash bag full of dry leaves (you can also use crumpled newspaper). Tie the bag closed, then flip it upside down. To make the head, stuff a second bag (not as full as the first), tie it closed, and tape it to the body.
  2. To make one of the legs, roll up two garbage bags together lengthwise. Wrap them with electrical tape at both ends and at two points along the leg to make joints. Roll up seven more legs, then cut four small slits in each side of the spider's body and slip the legs in place.
  3. Cut the white lip off two of the red plastic cups, then tape them onto the spider's body to make his beady red eyes. For the fangs, cut two triangles out of the third plastic cup (or another piece of white plastic) and tape them onto the spider so that the white side faces up.
  4. Perch the spider atop a big pile of relatively dry leaves. To create a few unlucky stuffed animals to her web.

Here is a great video to help you along the way:

thank you Disney Family Fun for making this happen for us!

A good day.

Today was a good day! Had my surgery now i'm ready to start cutting out my coupons i'm going to use for the week. After having a bad run in with HEB last week i'm not sure if we are going there or Kroger. I guess it depends on how I feel. I am also going to try to make it to Michaels or Hobby Lobby tomorrow or send my Partner to get me some crafty thing to make a wreath for the front door. I'm thinking Spiders, eyeballs, ghosts. I will post pictures when I get them finished. Thanks for reading my ramblings :)

My first post

This is my first blog posting. I thought I would try this out because I am considering writing a book in my future and this might get me started. I read a lot of blogs lately about couponing, crafting and giveaways and I thought to myself I can totally do this! I feel that I have met some great people all across the United States. I have been disabled for almost 3 months now after hurting my back at work, and I think it has really opened my eyes to Twitter and Blogging. I am having my injection tomorrow and it is supposed to make me feel 50% better. I am hoping for the best. WelI I hope I get some followers and I hope I can keep this up!
